WORK ISSUE
ISSUE 15
08.12.2009
Work. Travailler. Trabajo. It can be the thing that gives your life meaning, or the reason you dread getting out of bed in the morning. It is the engine that drives human society, whether urban or rural, capitalist or communist, first or third world. How people approach work and its attendant issues says as much about them as any other measurement. Who works and what sort of work do they do? What sort of work yields the greatest compensation? How are the fruits of such labor distributed within the greater society? Does one work for money or is work part of how we establish a sense of purpose? As the U.S. muddles its way through (or deeper into) the current economic recession, the numbers everyone is watching are in the unemployment line. So, if nothing else, the arrival of the COOL'EH Work Issue is mighty timely.
